The Retail Buyer is responsible for selecting and merchandising a range of products to sell on in-store and online. Work internal teams to select new products and review existing items to ensure a proper product mix and balanced availability flow specific to the retail model. Merchandising factors include customer demand, market trends, product availability, product flow, and pricing strategy. This position works closely with Retail, eCommerce, Planning, Warehouse, and Marketing Teams.

Duties & Responsibilities:

·       Determine buying requirements and formulate assortment plan/range plan to finalize the budget for the assigned department

·       Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments in the buying processes.

·       Align the buying plan to the overall department/category business plan and the merchandize strategy as laid down by the manager.

·       Pursue cost reduction measures through centralized bulk buying and/or selecting appropriate vendor mix, scanning the environment for benchmarks, and constantly improving the purchase process.

·       Identify and leverage alternate buying opportunities to source products & ensure that company maintains its competitive edge.

·       Identifying customer preferences, monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers.

·       Forecast the M-o-M sales, gross margin and sales contribution at a category and subcategory level.

·       Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and best practice tools and methods.

·       Manage the entire PO process to ensure optimal inventory.

·       Map competition prices/products and provide qualitative inputs to the business.

·       Ensure compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures during supplier negotiations and PO release process.

·       Visit the market to research products & study market trends. Use the market visits to also add more suppliers to the base.

·       Work with the WH to ensure correct in-warding of stocks as well as clear any other issues in the process.

Work with the content & marketing teams to ensure the best visibility for the products procured.
