Duties and Responsibilities

 

 

• Ensures through his/her actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at the Prince Sultan Cardiac Center.

 

 

• Schedules patients for echocardiographic scans.

 

 

•  Performs standard scans and ensures that physicians are provided with required   

 

 

• Administers and monitors scans (such as two-dimensional echocardiograms utilizing saline and pharmacological contrast)

 

 

• Performs advanced echocardiography techniques such as 3-Dimensional Echocardiography, Strain and Strain Rate imaging etc.

 

 

• Assists the physician performing Transesophageal Echocardiography

 

 

•  Performs Stress Echocardiography scans (both exercise and pharmacological).

 

 

•  Prepares preliminary reports for physicians’ review

 

 

• Prepares, updates, and files records of procedures performed and related materials; collects studies or materials for teaching or referral purposes

 

 

• Answer patient questions about procedures and equipment prior to starting the imaging process. To act as liaisons between patients and doctors, asking questions on the patient’s behalf and providing vital information and answers from physicians.

 

 

• Assists in clinical training of medical, sonography, and radiologic technology students and radiology residents in the performance of standard scans.

 

 

• Provides technical assistance to researchers conducting studies using echocardiographic techniques.

 

 

• Monitors the operation and calibration of laboratory equipment; makes small repairs; defines and arranges for more complex repairs when needed

 

 

• Performs cleaning of the echocardiography machines and probes(excluding TEE probes) as per the Center’s infection control policies

• Take on-call duties

 

 

• Performs other related duties as required.
