Represent companies in negotiating contracts and formulating business terms with suppliers. Review, evaluate, and approve specifications for issuing and awarding bids along with maintaining records of goods ordered and received. Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials. Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to determine the need for changes. Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data and information to determine reasonable prices of purchase. Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability. Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers. Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies, and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales. Prepare reports regarding market conditions and merchandise costs.
