Reviewing the medical history and the medical records of NPO patients or any candidate for TPN either total or partial. Provide initial nutrition assessment for the TPN Candidates. Checking the patient lab result on a daily basis (Example: Sodium, Potassium, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Calcium, Albumin, Bilirubin, Triglycerides,) Reviewing the patient fluid balance Calculating the patient caloric needs based on the anthropomorphic data, stress factors and activity factors. Identifying the patient needs from macro and micronutrients according to the patient case. Identifying the more appropriate amino acid brand regarding the patient’s renal and hepatic conditions. Adjusting the patient electrolytes’ needs on a daily basis. Preparing daily tailored TPN formulations under aseptic techniques according to the patient daily needs. Monitoring the patient progress till shifting to enteral or oral routes. All PN formulations are prepared according to ASPEN and ESPEN Guidelines and updated regularly on periodic bases.
